This is my favorite time of year. I like the cooler weather, I like back to school shopping (even though I'm not in school anymore) and the excitement for the holidays is beginning.
It also means that my calendar starts to fill up with rehearsals for holiday shows, events, and traveling - it is the busiest time of year for entertainment. So before all of that hits full on, I thought I would catch up here:
I just returned home from five days in sunny Southern California, mostly visiting family and friends but also exploring some networking and performing opportunities. It was not as promising on the work front as I had hoped but a good relaxing trip nonetheless.
I am honored to have been selected to perform at the first Annual International Pole and Aerial Showcase in Orlando however I will not be able to fulfill their request due to some other conflicts.
During September and October, Drew Thomas Magic has booked me for a handful of shows as the lead illusion assistant. The last show we did was in Indiana and it sold out 3 days before! It was a great show which received three standing ovations. Such a great group of talented people. I'm looking forward to the next 2 months, when we have several shows in Orlando, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.
Blue Horizons, the dolphin show at SeaWorld Orlando that incorporates birds and aerial performers will see me flying with them again more regularly over the next few months as I return to a role on cloud swing. I am definitely looking forward to this. It's been a little while and it is such a fun show to watch and be a part of.
There is another project in the works for October/November that could be really fun for me. I was just asked this evening to potentially choreograph a new aerial addition to a well known Broadway show! :) As I know more, I will certainly share it here.
I have a new tissu routine that is quite different from what you may have seen from me in the past. It is more dynamic and emotional and could be showcased at an event! Of course, any of my routines on a variety of apparatuses are available for booking. All you need to do is contact me: aerialcheryl@me.com
Have a fantastic week and hopefully I'll fly near you sometime soon!

News...
Such an exciting title and yet you're still reading :)
In the last two months, I've been a little busy. I learned quite a bit about stunt work and can now say that I am a trained stunt performer. I can have a hand to hand fight as well as a choreographed sword fight and I do both of these as part of a stunt show at Universal's Islands of Adventure. This is a hurdle I've been trying to overcome for a couple of years now and I'm really excited to finally be cast in the show and to have survived the rehearsal and training process. It was pretty tough - two and a half weeks of rehearsals (40 hours each week) through the middle of the night while keeping up with my other jobs and responsibilities. Lots of fun was had and a few bumps and bruises earned along the way.
I also had an opportunity to travel through the east coast of Canada for a few days on the Disney Magic cruise ship. We stopped in Halifax, Nova Scotia (which I loved!) and St. John, New Brunswick (didn't love it so much). Beautiful sites and relaxing times were had. I finally achieved a goal I've had of running on the track deck while at sea. It was really peaceful and relaxing - absolutely the most enjoyable run I've ever done.
I know it's not much of an update, but I have a show tomorrow so I'm going to head to bed soon. Performing several illusions at the Gaylord Palms in the evening with a great group of performers. I am looking forward to it!

What's next?
Answering this question is so much easier than it was just a month ago. I have finally procured a training facility where I can train whatever and whenever I want, which is unbelievably exciting and relieving. I have brand new peacock blue silks to work on in a space that is not judgmental, intimidating, or competitive. I am free to train, practice and create without interruption or a need to protect my work. It is so freeing emotionally and artistically to have an environment that does not impinge on your creativity and I am very grateful to have access to the space. I have begun work on a new tissu piece. My biggest challenge with this is choosing a piece of music to accompany me so feel free to email me with suggestions. I know what the piece will look like overall and the general sections are laid out but the music choice will inspire the final touches and the details which will make it my best one yet.
The other great answer to my question, is a new show! I am learning a stunt show that will increase my performance skills, challenging me in new ways as an athlete and as a performer. I am looking forward to mastering these new skills and finding out how they will add to my repertoire as an aerialist.
I also have some other potential projects in the works that I am very excited about, but since nothing is set in stone yet, I will be keeping these things to myself for now. Just know that everything happens for a reason and the dots will connect looking backwards.
Thank you so much for all of your support and make sure to keep in touch by emailing me at: aerialcheryl@me.com

This Blog Site
This site will be forever changing, flexing and stretching. I am in the process of taking all of my information on my website (www.cheryljoy.net) and bringing it here.
In a very short time, Apple is discontinuing mobileme, which was my web host. I built my site on iWeb which is no longer supported by new iOS and is no longer part of Mac programming.
So basically this site is a substitute for my website during the transition from mobileme and iWeb to whatever I decide to use next. My videos can still be viewed at www.vimeo.com/aerialcheryl. I am working on getting my youtube videos updated so that should happen soon enough as well. You can always email me at aerialcheryl@me.com with questions, comments, requests and concerns. Thank you!
